bb.q Global has entered the African market by signing a master franchise agreement with a local South African distribution company. With this partnership, the company plans to accelerate its global expansion beyond North and South America into Africa. The signing ceremony was attended by Yoon Hong-geun, Chairman of Genesis BBQ Group, and Lee Dong-il, CEO of Good Tree South Africa, along with other key representatives from both companies. Good Tree South Africa currently operates a Korean food distribution business and manages over 3,000 supermarket brands across the country.

South Africa has a population of about 63 million and a median age of 28, making it a young and growing market with strong potential in the food service industry. It is also one of the countries with high chicken consumption. According to the 2024 South Africa Poultry Industry Stats Summary published in June by the South African Poultry Association, the average annual chicken consumption per person in South Africa is around 36 kilograms, accounting for more than half of total meat consumption. In comparison, data from the Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) shows that Koreans consume about 15–20 kilograms per person annually—less than half that of South Africans.

bb.q Global plans to expand its stores in major cities such as Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Bloemfontein. Together with Good Tree South Africa, which manages over 3,000 supermarket brands, the company will promote the QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) model to establish its presence across the region. Chairman Yoon Hong-geun stated, “South Africa is a strategic gateway for expanding into the African continent and a key hub to accelerate the global spread of K-Food. We will introduce unique menus and services that fit local tastes and culture, so that Korean fried chicken and Korean cuisine can continue to grow throughout Africa.”
