Genesis BBQ Group Raises the Status of K-Food at APEC Summit

Genesis BBQ Group took the lead as a representative of K-Food, welcoming global leaders ahead of the 2025 APEC KOREA summit.
APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) is the world’s largest economic cooperation forum,
comprising 21 member economies including the United States and China.
It aims to promote free trade and sustainable growth across the Asia-Pacific region.

The 2025 APEC KOREA summit was held around the Bomun Tourist Complex in Gyeongju,
with global leaders such as U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in attendance.
The “bb.q Village” restaurant, located within Sono Calm Gyeongju, designated as the accommodation site for top-level officials and delegates,
served as a cultural ambassador, directly showcasing the appeal of K-Food to distinguished guests from around the world.

To prepare for this, the bb.q Village Sono Calm Gyeongju branch began extensive preparations well in advance.
The store completed a full renovation in September, and from October 24 to November 2,
deployed elite bb.q Global staff who completed the Chicken University’s global standard training program
and were capable of communicating in English, Chinese, and other foreign languages.
Through continuous QCS (Quality, Cleanliness, Service) inspections, the store elevated its culinary standards,
service quality, and operational manuals to match the expectations of an international event.
During the APEC period, the number of regular and foreign customers steadily increased, as did group reservation inquiries.
To accommodate visitors, operating hours were extended until midnight.

Helen Tarawa-Lay, a representative from the Papua New Guinea government visiting for APEC,
shared her impression after dining at bb.q :
“bb.q Chicken is much crispier, juicier, and more flavorful than any fried chicken I’ve had before.
The slight spiciness is impressive. I’d love for my grandson to try it as well.”
Chairman Yoon Hong-geun of Genesis BBQ Group has consistently emphasized the brand’s mission
to act as a cultural ambassador, spreading the taste and culture of Korea to the world’s 8 billion people.
Last year, the company previously served as a culinary diplomacy ambassador during the Gangwon Winter Youth Olympics,
offering K-Food experiences to international participants. At APEC, Genesis BBQ Group once again embodied the
“dignity of Korean gourmet culture,” enhancing the national prestige and brand image of Korea as a key player in economic diplomacy.

Going forward, Genesis BBQ Group plans to leverage its operational expertise accumulated across 57 countries
to continue promoting Korean culture worldwide through K-Food.
