Genesis BBQ Global Expands Store Models in Canada : QSR & Shop-in-Shop

bb.q Canada is expanding new store models such as QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) and Shop-in-Shop to serve different markets and customer needs and create new opportunities for expansion. Last April, bb.q Canada opened its first QSR location at Mayfair Shopping Centre in Victoria, British Columbia. Designed for a shopping mall food court, the Mayfair location offers a simplified menu with a focus on fast preparation and service. Since opening, the location has maintained stable sales and operations and has become a new place to introduce the bb.q Chicken brand to customers in Victoria.

Building on the successful operation of the Mayfair location, bb.q Canada is now preparing to open its second QSR location inside the campus of the University of British Columbia (UBC), one of Canada's most prestigious top-tier universities. Considering the lifestyle and needs of university students, the UBC location will offer a menu and service model that allows students to enjoy bb.q Chicken quickly and at reasonable prices.

At the same time, bb.q Canada has introduced another new store format by opening a Shop-in-Shop location inside an indoor screen golf facility located near York University in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Shop-in-Shop is a model that uses the existing space and customer base of another business to operate bb.q Chicken with a compact kitchen and simplified menu. Unlike opening a separate full-size restaurant, this model can use existing facilities while naturally introducing the bb.q Chicken brand and products to customers who already visit the business. The location near York University is especially meaningful because it introduces bb.q Chicken to customers visiting the screen golf facility and offers a new experience of enjoying chicken while playing golf. It can turn existing golf customers into new bb.q Chicken customers, while the screen golf facility can provide a new F&B service and create additional sales. The Shop-in-Shop location can also reach customers outside the facility through delivery and online orders, making better use of the existing space while creating additional revenue opportunities.
Based on the experience of the screen golf location near York University, bb.q Canada plans to expand the Shop-in-Shop model through partnerships with businesses that already have their own spaces and customer bases, including screen golf facilities, bowling alleys, arcades, and other entertainment venues. Going forward, bb.q Canada will actively use both the QSR model, expanding from Mayfair to UBC, and the Shop-in-Shop model, starting with the screen golf location near York University, as new strategies for store expansion. Through these new models, bb.q Canada aims to reach more customers across shopping malls, university areas, entertainment facilities, and other locations while continuing to create new store opportunities and drive sustainable growth in the Canadian market.
