Jensen Huang’s K-Chicken Visits: From a bb.q Hongdae Store to Jamsil Baseball Stadium

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang showed his interest in Korean fried chicken, or “K-chicken,” during his visit to Korea. He visited a bb.q Hongdae Store and later ordered bb.q chicken at Jamsil Baseball Stadium.

On June 5, after having dinner with several Korean business leaders, Huang visited the bb.q Hongdae Entrance store in Seoul. The visit was not part of his official schedule. At the restaurant, he ordered Golden Olive Chicken, draft beer, BBQ Lemon Boy, cola, and canned Cass beer. Photos and videos of his visit were shared online and attracted public attention.

The bb.q Hongdae Store Entrance store opened in July last year. It is located in a busy area popular with foreign tourists and young customers. According to BBQ, sales at the store from Friday to Sunday increased by more than 20% compared with the same period of the previous week after Huang’s visit.

Interest in K-chicken continued at Jamsil Baseball Stadium. On June 7, Huang attended a Doosan Bears home game as the ceremonial first pitcher. Doosan Group Chairman Park Jeong-won participated as the ceremonial batter. Before the event, Huang said, “Nothing is better than chimaek,” referring to the popular Korean combination of fried chicken and beer.NVIDIA also ordered 113 boxes of bb.q’s Crunch Boneless Cracker Chicken from the bb.q store inside the stadium. Crunch Boneless Cracker Chicken is made with chicken thigh meat coated with crispy breadcrumbs and fried until crunchy. Because it is boneless, it is easy to eat while watching a baseball game. It is one of the company’s representative menu items designed for sports venues and stadiums.
