Malaysia Emerges as Supply Chain Hub and Halal Outpost – A Land of Opportunity for Korean Firms

 

 

On August 27, the Maeil Business Global Forum was held at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur,

bringing together business leaders and policymakers to explore pathways for joint economic growth between

Malaysia and Korea. The event went beyond a simple seminar, highlighting Malaysia’s rising role as a strategic

hub for Korean companies’ global expansion.

Among the key speakers was Chris, COO of Genesis bb.q Global, who shared industry insights and his vision for the future, earning wide recognition from participants. Presenting BBQ’s Malaysia expansion strategy, Yoon noted, “Malaysia is not just a sales market but a global hub for halal certification. Halal certification is a critical key to expanding into markets such as the Middle East and Indonesia, as well as broader Asia.”

Genesis bb.q Global announced plans to establish a production base for sauces, powders, and other raw materials in Malaysia within this year, aiming to use it as a cornerstone for supplying halal-certified K-Food to global markets. The initiative is seen as more than just overseas expansion—it represents a new growth model for Korean food companies

seeking a competitive edge in the global halal market.
