Genesis BBQ Global Supports Commemorative Exhibition and Documentary for the 75th Anniversary of the Korean War
Genesis BBQ Global joins “Freedom is not free” Project to Honor Veterans and Practice Social Responsibility
To mark the 75th anniversary of the Korean War and Korea’s Memorial Day, Genesis BBQ Global (CEO Chris Yun) offered its first-ever headquarters-level support for a veteran-focused photo exhibition (75th Korean War Retrospective) and documentary production. The support was part of the “Freedom is not free” project led by the non-profit organization Project-Soldier (Founder & Director Lamy), aiming to revisit the stories of war heroes and express gratitude through a contemporary perspective.
Art of Memory : Reconnecting with History Through Exhibition
From June 5 to 25, the 75th Anniversary Korean War Retrospective was held at SJ Kunsthalle in Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul, transforming veterans’ stories into powerful modern art. Deeply aligned with the purpose of the exhibition, Genesis BBQ Global donated KRW 10 million and purchased 500 tickets to encourage wider public participation.
The tickets were distributed to employees (100), six BBQ flagship stores in Seoul (50 each), and general consumers through an Instagram comment event (100).
To help promote the exhibition, posters were also displayed at six key bb.q stores in Seoul. The participating stores were
: Cheonggye Plaza, Songridan-gil, Family Town, Yongsan I Park Mall, Gubeundari Station, and SNU Engineering Hall.
A Veteran Returns After 74 Years — and We Were There to Welcome Him
From June 1 to 14, Project-Soldier (Director Lamy) invited Korean War veteran Mr. Jerome Gloder from Baltimore, Maryland, for a visit to Korea as the subject of a special documentary film. This was Mr. Gloder’s first time returning to Korea in 74 years since serving in the Korean War. Genesis BBQ Global supported Mr. Jerome Gloder, his daughter Jermel Golder, and the Project-Soldier production team with meals, transportation, and on-site coordination throughout the filming period. Taking into account the veteran’s wheelchair use, the company provided a multi-passenger vehicle and a driver for the team’s mobility needs. David from the Genesis BBQ Global Marketing team stayed closely involved — assisting with wheelchair support, helping with outfit shopping, and guiding the team throughout the trip. On June 7, Mr. Jerome Gloder, his daughter Jermel Golder, and the Project-Soldier team had dinner at the Songridan-gil bbq store, where store staff also participated in a short, heartwarming interview with the veteran.
Remembering Together — A True Expression of Corporate Social Responsibility
Genesis BBQ Global joined both the opening reception (June 5) and the artist-led closing event (June 25), showing full support for the project's spirit and purpose. CEO Chris Yun and members from both the global and domestic marketing teams attended the events, connecting directly with veterans, their families, and other guests in heartfelt conversation. This initiative was more than just sponsorship — it was a sincere effort to engage with history, community memory, and corporate social values. Genesis BBQ Global plans to continue its commitment to ESG efforts and build trust through meaningful contributions to customers and local communities.
